31st August - Hakea rostrata - Beaked Hakea

Hakea rostrata

Reasonably widespread throughout south eastern Australia the beaked hakea is one of three species occuring at Wirrapunga.. It is a shrub to 5m high.

Flowering occurs from July through to November.

Its only threat would be by more vigorous woody weeds overgrowing it.

The management of the the beaked hakea, other than removal of introduced weeds, is simply ensuring that it is controlled through suitable events so as not to threaten other species itself.
