23rd April - Alternanthera denticulata - Lesser Joyweed

Alternanthera denticulata

The books say this is an annual herb. However, given a continuously damp situation it grows as a perennial developing a large taproot which can then carry it through drier times. Now an uncommon species it grows as prostrate or erect to 75 cm tall.

Flowers December to April but continues while damp enough.

Seems to do well in a moist situations.

Doesn't seem to need any special attention once established.
