24th October - Caladenia tentaculata - King Spider

Caladenia tentaculata

Description:
Plant 10 - 60 cm high; leaf hairy.

Flowering:
Flowers August - December.

Threats:
Can be overgrown by introduced grass species.

Management:
This is a good time to look at pollination of orchids. This one is pollinated by a single species of thynnine wasp by sexual deceipt. This works well while there are plenty of these wasps around. But now there is not. Therefore these need to be hand pollinated to thrive.
