26th May - Deyeuxia quadriseta - Reed Bent-grass

Deyeuxia quadriseta

Description:
Glabrous perennial grass to 130 cm tall.

Flowering:
Flowers October to May.

Threats:
Although the flowering stalk is quite tall, the leaves are relatively short and the plant, as a whole, is very slow growing and unagressive. It is easily overgrown by more dominant introduced grasses but does well in a properly managed bush garden.

Management:
As with all grasses it appreciates an occassional mowing.
